Road and Rail Safaris - Namibia(including Walking & Hiking)
Namibia is a big country, with large distances between destinations. For example, from Windhoek to either of the two entrance gates to Etosha National Park, all on a good tarred surface, will require more than six hours on the road, allowing for maximum highway speeds of 120 kph and for one refuelling stop, while from Windhoek to Sossusvlei will take about the same time, except that most of the trip will be on gravel surface, which requires greater concentration and driving stamina. We are not trying to discourage you from self-driving - far from it! We ourselves have driven all over Namibia, from the Orange River to the Angolan border, as well as through most countries in Southern Africa, and have enjoyed doing so. However, if you want someone else to do the driving, then scheduled safaris are a good way to see Namibia. You will be free to relax and enjoy the scenery as well as to benefit from the services of knowledgeable and well trained guides. The safaris that we recommend are provided by reputable companies and all comply with standards of excellence, as regards transportation, guiding, sites, and accommodation.
