Cellular Phones in Namibia The following map, which shows cell phone coverage, was provided by MTC Namibia, the only company that is allowed to provide cellular phone services in the country.
It is possible to rent cellular phones and associated services. The following information was provided by a supplier in Windhoek during Februrary 2006: We rent out our cellular phone with a sim card for N$ 20.00 per phone per day rented. If the client has his / her own cellular phone and the phone accepts Namibian sim cards the client can rent a sim card only from us for N$ 10.00 per card per day rented. Calls are charged at N$ 3.40 per unit. SMS messages N$ 1.50 per message sent. Incoming calls are free of charge. The clients need to book the phones well in advance.
